Adopt-a-Road Program
Garbage and debris or roadside litter is unappealing to the eye for both residents and motorists, is harmful to the environment and takes away from a community's natural beauty.
To date there has been a couple of community groups who have “adopted” Town roadways and are doing their part to keep our roads litter free.
The Town of Penetanguishene ADOPT-A-ROAD is a private/public partnership program where environmentally conscientious and community-minded individuals and/or groups make a contribution to a cleaner environment and a healthy community by volunteering to remove roadside litter.
Under the program, groups or individuals agree to adopt a section of road right-of-way and keep it clear of debris. In return, the Town of Penetanguishene will provide safety training (video), safety vests, signs and garbage bags. Once the first clean-up has been completed in the agreed area, the Town of Penetanguishene will install and maintain an ADOPT-A-ROAD sign that displays the name of the organization or community group volunteering in the area.
How can you apply for the program?
Volunteers wishing to participate in the program must complete and submit the agreement to the Town of Penetanguishene.
