Fire Hydrant Flushing – Town of Penetanguishene Drinking Water System

Please be advised that the Town of Penetanguishene, in conjunction with the Ontario Clean Water Agency will be conducting routine “flushing” of the fire hydrants for the week starting Monday, July 25, 2022, to Friday, July 29^th, 2022.  The operation will be conducted during the hours of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

As a result of this process, you may encounter some discoloration, rust, or sedimentation and/or experience fluctuation in pressure. Rest assured the water has been properly disinfected and is safe for consumption.

If you notice discoloration, wait until the operation is completed and then run your cold water starting from the first tap in your plumbing system, until the discoloration clears. This process can take 5 to 10 minutes.
