Public Notice: Summer Cultural Event Ad Hoc Committee

The Town of Penetanguishene is excited to begin planning a new event and is looking for community members to join the Summer Cultural Event Ad Hoc Committee!

The committee’s role is to collaboratively shape this event. The theme does not have to be historic in nature, but it will be developed with respect and consideration for the diverse historic cultures that shape the community. Your participation will help develop the event’s name, theme, location, and date, and ensure that the participation of key groups and resources reflects the wide range of perspectives within Penetanguishene. The committee will be temporary in nature and will meet until its mandate is fulfilled.

The mandate of the Summer Cultural Event Ad Hoc Committee:

  1. Explore the feasibility of a large cultural event.
  2. Determine the level of community interest for a large cultural festival.
  3. Ensure every group/culture has a voice in the decision-making process.

The deliverables of the Summer Cultural Event Ad Hoc Committee:

  1. Determine the purpose and scope of the festival and its target audience (tourists, community members, or both)
  2. Develop a brand: pick the name, theme, logo,
  3. Provide a recommendation on event timing and frequency.
  4. Identify key groups and resources.
