Bike Pump Track Feedback Survey - September 7, 2023

Thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Penetanguishene Youth, the Town of Penetanguishene will be moving forward with both phases of the Martin Valley Park Redevelopment project this year. The second phase of park improvements, the creation of a pump track in the undeveloped portion of the park, wasn’t going to occur until 2024.     

“This is very exciting news for not only Penetanguishene residents but everyone in North Simcoe as the track is the first of its kind in the local area” noted Doug Rawson, Mayor of the Town of Penetanguishene.  “There has been lots of growth around this part of Town in recent years and the park is centrally located next to three schools.”

Initially the Friends of the Penetanguishene Youth committed $75,000 to project.  That contribution has increased to $100,000 not only helping the Town realize the project this year but make the footprint of the track larger. 

The John Street Park is currently closed for construction however project details including a layout of the track can be viewed on Connect Penetanguishene. 

Before the Town finalizes the features of the track with Powcon Inc., residents are encouraged to complete a short survey that will help guide the final design.  Below is a link to the survey that will close at 4:30 on Monday September 11. 

“The Town is extremely grateful for this devoted group of volunteers.” says Sherry Desjardins, Director of Recreation and Community Services.  “Through the operation of a permanent ‘garage sale’, in space generously donated by the Village Square Mall, they have led fundraising efforts for many park amenities enjoyed by our youth such as the skate park and several playground upgrades around Town.”
