Council Highlights - April 24, 2019
- Council received a presentation from Huronia Historical Parks (Discovery Harbour) celebrating the Festival and Events Ontario Award for PumpkInferno.
- Council approved the release of the “Call for Public Art Proposals” for the Main Street Art project.
- Council approved public appointments to the Community Wellbeing Committee, Property Standards Committee and the Line Fence Viewers Committee.
- Council ratified the decisions from the Committee of the Whole meetings of April 10, 2019.
- Council passed 4 by-laws including repealing a by-law for an agreement with Tiny Township related to a communication tower, an update to the fees and charges, license agreement with Argee Boat Cruises Ltd related to the Georgian Queen’s location at the Town Dock, and a 3-year maintenance agreement with Eramosa Engineering Inc. for the Water and Wastewater Division.
Committee of the Whole (items that were discussed to be ratified at Council’s next meeting):
- Committee received a delegation from Darren Vella of Innovated Planning Solutions regarding two planning applications, a Draft Plan of Subdivision and a Zoning By-law Amendment, for 1145 Fuller Avenue.
- Committee approved an update to the Level of Service Snow Removal Policy.
- Committee received a post-event report regarding the 2019 Winterama.
- Committee approved that structural assessments be completed on the Penetanguishene Memorial Community Centre and Penetanguishene Curling Club with the results of the building condition assessment to be considered for future capital. It was also approved that staff release a Request for Proposal to obtain the necessary information needed to make a well informed decision regarding the future of recreation facilities in the Town.
- Committee received an update regarding the award of Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Zoning By-law Review Project.
- Committee deferred a decision on the completeness of the applications for Draft Plan of Subdivision and Zoning By-law Amendment for the property at 1145 Fuller Avenue.
- Committee received an update regarding the elimination of the County of Simcoe Vacant Unit Rebate Program.
- Committee received the first quarter financial summary for 2019.
- Committee approved an updated Contract/Part-time/Seasonal salary pay grid to take effect as of April 1, 2019.
- Committee approved that staff proceed with notice and a public information session regarding a reduction of two members of Council for the 2022 Municipal Election.
- Committee approved the proposed 2019 Tax Rates and Levies with an overall tax impact of 0.2%.
