Council Highlights - January 22, 2020
Council Highlights provide a brief overview of noteworthy decisions and presentations made at Town of Penetanguishene Council meetings. Detailed agendas and minutes from the meetings are available on our website or you can view our livestream for additional details. Meetings take place the second and fourth Wednesday of each month unless otherwise noted.
Council
- Council presented a grant to Community Reach ($3,300).
- Council ratified the decisions from the Committee of the Whole meeting on January 8, 2020.
- Council approved Harbour Pointe Subdivision Phase 3 – the Initial Acceptance of Underground Municipal Services, Granular Road Preparation (Beausoleil Drive and Hewson Street) and Base Asphalt (Beausoleil Drive) for Harbour Pointe Subdivision Phase 3.
- Council passed one by-law being the Rate of Remuneration for Members of Council.
Committee of the Whole (items that were discussed to be ratified at Council’s next meeting):
- Committee approved staff proceeding with a 5-year professional engineering services agreement with Greenland International Consulting Ltd. with a by-law to come forward at the February 12, 2020 Council meeting.
- Committee approved the initial acceptance base and surface course asphalt within Phase 2 of the Harbour Pointe Subdivision.
- Committee approved a mixture of parkland, residential and commercial land uses for the Ojibwa Landing property at 111 Robert Street West for the purposes of a Risk Assessment.
- Committee received an update about the closing of a road allowance off of Fuller Avenue.
- Committee received an update regarding the Seniors Driver Refresher Course.
- Committee approved a joint collaboration agreement with Beausoleil First Nation, the Town of Midland, the Township of Tiny and the Township of Tay in support of a grant application to the Ontario Trillium Foundation by the Culture Alliance in the Heart of Georgian Bay.
- Committee approved staff moving forward with the Overhead Bridge Road Trailhead development including sourcing out funding through various grant applications and requesting financial support from the Township of Tiny.
- Committee received for information an update on the new Official Plan, the activities of the Planning and Community Development Department for 2019, Committee of Adjustment Minutes and the County Initiated Official Plan Amendment - Waste Management Policies.
