Council Highlights - March 27, 2019

Council

  • Council received a presentation from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP and Wendat regarding a proposed Mental Health Response Unit.
  • Council received a presentation from the Southern Georgian Bay Family Physician Recruitment.
  • Council ratified the decisions from the Committee of the Whole meetings of March 13, 2019.
  • Council approved the funding recommendation from the Police Services Board for the proposed Mental Health Response Unit.
  • Council approved a twenty-month extension for the Fire and Emergency Services Agreement renewal with the Town of Midland and also authorized the CAO to proceed with a joint Administrative Review of Fire & Emergency Services.
  • Council passed one by-law being the schedule of retention periods for records.

Committee of the Whole (items that were discussed to be ratified at Council’s next meeting):

  • Committee received the Wastewater annual sewage treatment plant and sewage pump station reports.
  • Committee received a report about the amphitheatre sponsorships and the upcoming All Things Canadian Festival & Main Street Launch Party.
  • Committee received a presentation from WSB and adopted a municipal Cycling Strategy to guide future decision making related to cycling programs and infrastructure projects.
  • Committee approved the Zoning By-law amendment for 45 Edward Street (Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre) and a by-law will be presented at their next Council meeting.
  • Committee approved the application for an encroachment agreement at 19 Robert Street West.
  • Committee approved the non-motorized hot-dog cart for operation in Rotary Champlain Wendat Park.
  • Committee received a report regarding the business review for the Huronia Municipal Airport and the draft development charges reserve fund continuity schedule.
  • Committee passed a motion related to the one-time Municipal Modernization Payment from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs requesting staff prepare a report for options for utilization of the funding.
  • Committee requested staff return with proposed changes to the Financial Contributions to Community Organizations Policy.
  • Committee approved the proposed amendments to the composite fee by-law to take effect on May 1, 2019.
  • Committee approved the proposed Council Vacancy Policy.
  • Committee passed a motion regarding the federal government top-up increase to the Gas Tax Funds requesting staff to prepare a report for options for utilization of the funding.
