Council Highlights - November 20, 2019
Council Highlights provide a brief overview of noteworthy decisions and presentations made at Town of Penetanguishene Council meetings. Detailed agendas and minutes from the meetings are available on our website or you can view our livestream for additional details. Meetings take place the second and fourth Wednesday of each month unless otherwise noted.
Special Committee of the Whole – Budget (items that were discussed to be ratified at Council’s next meeting):
- Committee received a presentation from the Huronia Airport Commission regarding funding requests related to the 2020 Budget.
- Committee received an update from the Treasurer regarding the amendments made to the 2020 Draft budget as directed at the October 30, 2019 Budget meeting.
- Committee amended the 2020 Draft Budget as follows:
- 2020 Capital Plan be amended to include the Curling Club foundation waterproofing sump pump project for $46,000.
- 2020 Capital funding of $10,000 for Parks LED lighting, $26,000 for McGuire Park lighting and 2019 Recreation Capital Carry forward of $10,000 be reallocated to fund the 2020 Curling Club foundation capital project.
- 2023 Curling Club capital project be reduced to $35,000.
- The Secondary Plan for the Town Dock be reduced to $40,000 in the 2020 Capital budget funded from the County of Simcoe grant.
- Additional funding of $15,570 be included in the 2020 Capital Budget for the Huronia Airport Commission to be allocated from Taxation.
- A $40,000 increase to the 2020 Roads Preventative Maintenance Plan be approved.
- That a new severe weather reserve be approved and $38,700 from the 2020 OMPF grant be transferred.
- $24,430 taxation be reallocated from the capital budget to the public works operating budget.
The final 2020 Budget as amended was recommended to Council for adoption.
