COVID-19 Municipal Update December 4th, 2020

The Town of Penetanguishene continues to monitor news and updates concerning COVID-19 in order to ensure we work to keep our community members safe.  The following update provided on December 4th, 2020 is in addition to the updates provided in previous weeks here.

Penetanguishene is currently in Orange/Restrict region. The Town is encouraging residents from Red and Grey regions to stay home and keep our community safe based on public health recommendations. To help, we have many services that we can offer by phone or digitally. Special Statements from the Medical Officer of Health: On December 2nd, 2020, Dr. Gardner released an updated letter to businesses and organizations in the municipality to outline instructions for additional public health measures in Simcoe Muskoka.  The full letter is available here.

Updated Changes - Penetanguishene Memorial Community Centre (Arena): In light of Dr. Gardner’s recent recommendations, outlined above, the Arena has transitioned to restricted access started immediately to refrain individuals who reside in a red or grey zone, or from out of province from visiting our facilities.

Updated Changes - Penetanguishene Centennial Museum: All visitors to the museum must book an appointment to visit the museum, access the gift shop or utilize the genealogy & history research room.  Appointments can be made by calling the museum at 705-549-2150 or through email at museum@penetanguishene.ca. The museum also asks that all individuals whose primary residence lies within the Red/Control & Grey/Lockdown areas or from out of province not visit the museum at this time. These measures are in place following the recommendations of the Province's COVID-19 Response Framework.

Provincial Offences – Court: All in-person Provincial Offences Act matters (e.g., traffic tickets and offences under provincial legislation) scheduled until January 22, 2021 will be rescheduled. FIRE AND OPP REMINDERS

OPP Reporting Tool: We remind residents that OPP ask that you report allegations of non-compliance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act by phoning 1-888-310-1122 or utilizing the online reporting tool at opp.ca/reporting.

Fire Safety: Fire permits are not required at this time. Please remember that fires are for recreational purposes and are only permitted between 4:00 pm to midnight. Please ensure you follow all guidelines outlined here
