Flags lowered at Townhall in honour of retired Town Treasurer passing

Penetanguishene Town Hall has lowered its flags to honour the passing of Betty Valentine, a retired Penetanguishene Treasurer.

Betty was a dedicated employee of the Town for 32 years, retiring as the Treasurer.  Throughout her tenure with the Town, she obtained a Certified Municipal Manager designation and was a member of the Ontario Municipal Management Institute.  Further, she was also nominated by the Town of Penetanguishene and the Penetanguishene Public Library Board for the 1998 Ontario Outstanding Achievement Award for volunteerism which highlights Betty’s commitment and passion to her community.  Visitation for Betty’s passing will be taking place on Monday, November 18, 2024 and the flags will remain lowered until then.

“On behalf of my Council colleagues, staff and the residents of the town, I offer my sincere condolences to Betty’s family and friends,” said Mayor Doug Rawson. "Flags at Town Hall are lowered to half-mast in recognition of her passing and her years of service to the Penetanguishene community."
