Guidance for our Community and Businesses Regarding Phase 1 Reopening
May 15th, 2020 –
On May 14th, the Ontario government made announcements regarding specific businesses that are deemed eligible to reopen on Tuesday, May 19th, as well as additional seasonal services including; golf courses, marinas and private parks that are permitted to open on Saturday, May 16th as part of the first stage of the government’s reopening framework.
As with every step taken in the fight against COVID-19, we encourage our local business owners, workers and families to proceed with caution during the reopening of businesses and amenities.
To ensure that these first actions to reopen the province are a success, the public should continue to adhere to public health measures, including practising physical distancing, regular handwashing and staying home when ill.
It is important that businesses understand that they are only to open when they feel they are prepared and ready to do so. Businesses are encouraged to refer to the 90 safety guidance documents provided by the government and health and safety associations.
As a municipality, we are also operating under this premise when evaluating our reopening plans as the health, safety and well-being of our staff and the residents is of upmost importance during this time.
We are all in this together. We all share a responsibility to stay informed, be prepared, be flexible and follow these measures throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and for each stage of reopening our communities.
