Notice of trailhead construction on Overhead Bridge Road

Autumn is here! Town staff have received inquiries about alternative routes and parking for the Overhead Bridge Trail.

Knowing many families have the tradition of walking this trail over Thanksgiving making the trail busier than usual, we have outlined an alternative parking area. The additional parking is available on Concession 12 East. Trail users who park in this area will still have direct access to the entire trail.

This parking area is visible as the red location dot in the attached map.  The yellow dot refers to the formal trailhead currently under construction.

The Town of Penetanguishene would like to inform residents about the construction of a formal trailhead on Overhead Bridge Road.  Through funding provided by the Town of Penetanguishene, the Trans Canada Trail, the County of Simcoe and the Township of Tiny, the municipality will be developing a parking lot and making drainage upgrades to improve the quality of the trail in the areas noted in the attached map.

The construction project has been awarded to CSL Group and will be commencing on September 27, 2021. The scheduled work is estimated to take 8 weeks.

During the drainage improvements portion of the project, the Trans Canada Trail will be closed in the areas outlined in blue on the attached map.  Trail users have the option of using Robert Street West, Overhead Bridge Road and Concession 12 in Tiny Township as an alternate means of reconnection to the Trans Canada Trail during this time.

Thank you for your patience as these works are completed.  If you have any questions regarding the project, please contact the undersigned.
