Notice - Seasonal Bicycle Lanes Closure
This notice has been issued by the Town of Penetanguishene Public Works Department, in accordance with the Implementation of Traffic/Parking By-law Amendments Policy, to inform residents and businesses that the following bicycle lanes are being recommended for closure during the winter season from November 15 to April 30:
- Champlain Road (from 120 m north of Robbs Road to Town Limits)
- Fuller Avenue (from Brunelle Side Road to 560 m north of Broad Street)
The winter maintenance of the travelled portion of the road on the above road sections will continue to occur however the application of de-icing/anti-icing materials cannot be applied to the bike lane portion of the road under the current operating conditions. To be compliant with the Minimum Maintenance Standards legislation (O.Reg 239/02) for the maintenance of bike lanes during the winter season the closure of these facilities is required.
This proposed change to the Traffic/Parking By-law is being recommended for approval in a report being presented to the Committee of the Whole on January 9, 2019.
