The second Public Consultation for the Budget took place from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm before the start of the Committee of the Whole meeting. The Director of Finance presented an overview of the budget and members of the public had an opportunity to provide feedback and comments on the current budget allocation. Special Committee of the Whole (Budget Draft 1)
- Committee approved the following 2025 Financial Requests to be included in the 2025 Draft 2 Budget: $44,688 for the Huronia Airport Commission, $138,900 for the Severn Sound Environmental Association, $7,500 for the Culture Alliance, $7,150 for Community Reach – Transportation Linking Communities.
- Committee deferred the 2025 Financial Request of $533,352 for Penetanguishene Public Library until November 20, 2025, Special Committee of the Whole Meeting.
- Committee deferred the 2025 Financial Request of $10,000 for the Georgian Bay Physician Recruitment Program until November 20, 2025, Special Committee of the Whole Meeting when Georgian Bay Physician Recruitment can present to Council.
- Committee requested that staff invite EDCNS to present at the November 20, 2024, Special Committee of the Whole Draft 2 Meeting regarding their budget request.
- Committee approved a net increase of $37,500 staffing reserve be included in the Draft 2 of the Budget for a Part-Time Fire Prevention Inspector.
- Committee approved the Full-Time 310T Mechanic position to remain in Draft 2 of the Budget.
- Committee approved to change the two 11-month Equipment Operator Contracts with two full-time permanent positions.
- Committee approved $10,000 reserve for an independent assessment on the user fee services in collaboration with the Town of Midland.
- Committee approved that staff amend the budget as directed and present Draft #2 at the Special Committee of the Whole meeting on November 20, 2024.
