Special Council and Committee of the Whole - April 21, 2021

Special Council

Open Session:

• Council approved the Zoning By-law Amendment to remove the Holding “H” Symbol for 61 Thompsons Road.

Closed Session:

In accordance with the Town of Penetanguishene Procedural Bylaw 2019-25, the Council of the Town of Penetanguishene moved into an in-camera session to discuss:

• Drainage Improvements within Phase 2 of the Harbour Pointe Subdivision.
• SCDSB Property Matter (51 Dunlop Street) – Update.

Open Session:

• Council approved option 1 for the Drainage Improvements within Phase 2 of the Harbour Pointe Subdivision, as outlined within the staff report.
• Council received the CAO Report pertaining to the property purchase of the former Penetanguishene Secondary School from the Simcoe County District School Board and provided direction to the CAO to formally waive item 2, and return with a public open session report at the May 12 Committee of the Whole meeting outlining options for Council consideration on the future of the building to be ratified on May 26, 2021.
• Council approved By-law 2021-24 Being a By-law to Amend Zoning By-law 2000-02, as amended of The Corporation of the Town of Penetanguishene (Remove ‘H’ Symbol from 61 Thompsons Road West).

Special Committee of the Whole:

• Committee approved the Chatham Street Reconstruction Tender (both Phase 1 & Phase 2) award to Pennorth Group Limited for a price of $2,348,311.39 (Excluding HST).
• Committee approved the 2021 Tax Rates, Levies and Budget Estimates to be adopted as recommended in option #2.
