Special Council Meeting Highlights - March 31, 2020

To ensure social distancing provisions are maintained, this meeting was not open to the public and was conducted electronically. The meeting was recorded by Rogers TV and broadcast live. Questions from the Media and Public related to items on this agenda were offered the opportunity to email the Town Clerk and will be read during the meeting where applicable, however, no questions were submitted.
Special Council
- Council ratified the decisions from the Committee of the Whole meeting on March 11, 2020.
- Council received a verbal report from the Chief Administrative Officer regarding the situational Update and Delegated Authority.
- Based on the current COVID-19 crisis, on March 31, 2020, Council approved the following short-term financial relief measures:

- Waive current property tax penalties and interest on May 1, 2020, June 1, 2020 & July 1, 2020 for the current 2nd interim installment only that is due on April 30, 2020;
- Waive water and wastewater penalties on current bills only that fall due between March 26, 2020 and July 31, 2020;
- Upon request by account holders, the Town will hold or cancel post-dated cheques or withdraw residents from the Pre-authorized Payment Program. Unless otherwise requested of the Town, post-dated cheques on file and regularly scheduled pre-authorized payments will be processed; and
- Waive NSF charges for payments returned from March 26, 2020 to July 31, 2020.

- Council approved an amendment to the Procedural By-law to allow for electronic meetings during a declared provincial emergency.
The Town’s regularly scheduled meetings and events are currently suspended until further notice. Any Special meetings of Council will be called by the Mayor and the meeting agenda will be posted as usual on our website at www.penetanguishene.ca
