“It is important that we set an example as a municipality and continue to do our part in reducing the spread of COVID-19” says Mayor Doug Leroux. “Staff will continue to be available for residents and are happy to help residents navigate services online or by appointment. Closing our doors to public entry simply means that our services are safer for the community and we are doing our part in response to COVID-19 policies.”

This change will continue for the 28-day period consistent with the new framework level and will be re-evaluated in the new year.

“With the provincial announcement indicating that our region will move to Grey-Lockdown at 12:01 December 26th, our Emergency Management Team felt that closing to public entry and operating by appointment only, as we did during the previous lockdown is the responsible approach to take” says CAO Jeff Lees. “Fortunately, staff have experience offering an alternative approach to services and have done a tremendous job at switching gears since this decision was made.”

The Town of Penetanguishene’s Emergency Management Team will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation. Updates are provided on our website at www.penetanguishene.ca.
