EV Charging Station Installation and Emergency Systems Testing at PMCC
The Town of Penetanguishene, in partnership with Lakeland Power, will begin the installation of a new Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station at the Penetanguishene Memorial Community Centre (PMCC) and Arena on August 5, 2026.
As part of the installation process, a temporary disruption to the facility's power supply will be required. To ensure the facility remains operational during this period, the Town is working alongside the County of Simcoe to conduct a three (3) day test of the emergency power systems and operations at the PMCC. This exercise will help evaluate the facility's readiness should it ever be required to serve as an emergency reception or support centre for an extended period.
Residents can expect a generator to be on site and operating continuously, 24 hours a day, from August 5 to August 7, 2026.
We appreciate the public's patience and understanding as this important infrastructure work and emergency preparedness testing are completed.
