Good news for the residents and businesses affected by the Main Street Building collapse

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Penetanguishene, ON – We are pleased to inform the residents of the Town of Penetanguishene that the heavy demolition of 78 Main Street building has been successfully completed as of October 30, 2023. Light demolition cleanup is still underway and will continue throughout the week.

Earlier today, some residents and businesses affected by the collapse were informed that they are able to return to their homes on November 1.

We understand that this has been a challenging time for all those involved and appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout this process. The safety and well-being of our community members has always been our top priority.

We are anticipating that the Main Street will be reopened on Saturday, November 4, 2023 once the debris clean-up has been completed.

As the road re-opens and businesses begin to return to normal operations, the Town will continue working to support the downtown core in efforts to encourage visiting and shopping local.

"It brings me great relief to announce that some businesses and residents affected by the building collapse can return to their homes on November 1st.
