Description of the Proposed Official Plan Amendment
The Official Plan Amendment proposes to remove the Future Study Overlay from the Town Dock lands shown on Schedule B1 of the Town’s Official Plan. In its place, the Town is proposing the adoption of a Secondary Plan and Master Plan for the area. These documents are available for review at Townhall or online at connectpenetanguishene.ca/town-dock-secondary-plan.
The Secondary Plan and Master Plan have been developed to guide long‑term land use planning and help manage change within the Town Dock area. Together, they outline a vision for revitalizing this important waterfront location, reimagining it as an enhanced public space that will support community life and create a vibrant destination for both residents and visitors for years to come.
As with all Official Plan Amendments within the Town, the County of Simcoe acts as the final approval authority. Should Town Council adopt the amendment, the Secondary Plan and Master Plan will be forwarded to the County for final approval.
Appeal Rights
Under the Planning Act, individuals or public bodies who wish to appeal Council’s decision to the Ontario Land Tribunal must have either made oral comments at the Public Meeting or provided written comments to the Town before Council adopts the Official Plan Amendment. Anyone who does not participate in this manner is not entitled to appeal the decision and may not be added as a party to an appeal unless the Tribunal determines that reasonable grounds exist.
