Town of Penetanguishene Reminds Residents to Prepare for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election

Penetanguishene, ON – The Town of Penetanguishene is encouraging all eligible voters to make sure they are ready to participate in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election, beginning on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Residents will have multiple convenient voting options, including Internet and, telephone voting, and in-person paper ballot voting.

Voting Period

Internet and telephone voting will open at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, and remain available until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, October 26, 2026. Residents who prefer to vote by paper ballot may do so in person on Election Day only, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at James Keating Elementary School, located at 20 Lorne Avenue.

Before voting, residents are encouraged to confirm that their voter information is accurate through the Town's Voter Services Portal. Eligible voters can use the portal to confirm, update, or add their voter information if they have recently changed their name or address, purchased or rented a property, or need to update their voter record.

Voter Information Letter

Eligible voters who are included on the voters' list will receive a Voter Information Letter (VIL) by mail through Canada Post at the end of September/beginning of October. The letter will contain a unique Voting PIN required to cast a ballot online or by telephone. Residents are reminded to keep this information secure and not share it with anyone. Additional verification steps and a voter declaration are required before a ballot can be submitted.

Voter Assistance Centre

For residents who require assistance with Internet and Telephone voting, a Voter Assistance Centre will be available in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, located at 10 Robert Street West, beginning October 13 at 10:00 a.m. Staff will be available to help voters access internet and telephone voting services.

Before casting a ballot, residents are encouraged to review the certified list of candidates for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election. Taking the time to learn about the candidates can help voters make informed decisions on Election Day. The certified list of candidates is available on the Town's website and includes contact information for each individual.
