Traffic Calming Improvements Underway in Penetanguishene

The Town of Penetanguishene would like to advise residents that preliminary work has begun for the installation of traffic calming measures in several areas of the community, as per report RDS-2026-08 approved by Council.

Residents may notice stakes and white paint markings along roadways over the coming days. These markings are being used to identify the locations of future traffic calming features and associated signage.

The planned improvements include speed tables, raised pedestrian crossings, and speed feedback signs in the following locations:

  • Robert Street West – Owen Street to Lafontaine Road
  • Bellisle Road – Poyntz Street to Thompsons Road
  • Church Street – Fox Street to Navy Lane
  • Fox Street – Church Street to Broad Street

Installation work is expected to be completed over the next two weeks, weather permitting.

These improvements are intended to enhance safety for all road users by reducing vehicle speeds and improving conditions for pedestrians and cyclists.

The Town appreciates the public's patience and cooperation while this work is underway. Residents are asked to exercise caution when travelling through work areas and to follow any temporary traffic control measures in place.
