Celebrate Canada Day in Penetanguishene: Museum Events, Fireworks & Heat Safety Reminder
The Town of Penetanguishene invites residents and visitors to celebrate Canada Day with us at the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum & Archives, followed by evening fireworks in neighbouring Midland. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy local history, community spirit, and a full day of festivities.
However, with extreme heat conditions forecast, the health and safety of our community remains our top priority. We encourage everyone to plan ahead and make choices that support your well-being while enjoying the day.
At the Museum:
- The Penetanguishene Centennial Museum & Archives will be open until 6:00 p.m. as a cool, indoor space for visitors.
- Costumed historical characters will be located inside the Museum during their scheduled times.
You can view full event details here: Events & Exhibits - Town of Penetanguishene
If you do attend, please remember to stay hydrated, wear light clothing and sunscreen, seek shade or air-conditioned spaces when needed, and watch for signs of heat-related illness.
After a great day in Penetanguishene, we encourage you to continue the celebration by enjoying the Canada Day fireworks occurring in Midland this year, at Little Lake Park.
A reminder to all attendees: while recent provincial changes allow municipalities to opt into “bring-your-own” alcohol (BYOB) at outdoor events, the Town of Penetanguishene does not permit Tailgate Event Special Occasion Permits. As such, bring-your-own alcohol is not permitted at Town-hosted events or on municipal property.
Let’s work together to make this Canada Day safe, enjoyable, and memorable. Please check in on family, friends, and neighbours, and celebrate responsibly.
Happy Canada Day from the Town of Penetanguishene!
